Academic Cardiology participates in several clinical medication trials approved by the FDA according in accordance with Good Clinical Practices.
RELY Study
Compares new anti blood clotting drug to warfarin for prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation. Enrollment is completed for this study.
dal-OUTCOMES Study
Determines if adding a medication to raise HDL levels (“good” cholesterol) will reduce the risk of heart attacks and death in patients who have had a recent heart attack.

AVERROES Study
Compared the effectiveness of a new anti blood clotting medication to aspirin in patient with atrial fibrillation. This study is currently enrolling new patients.
ENGAGE-AF
Evaluate the effectiveness of a new anti blood clotting drug to replace warfarin for prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation.
Enrollment will begin in November 2008.
